This performance center explores how the arrangement and assembly of spaces can contribute to the display and curation of contemporary media. Located adjacent to an existing theater in the East Liberty neighborhood of Pittsburgh, the project juxtaposes modern production technology and traditional forms of entertainment to create an integrated facility in which the surrounding community can appreciate both forms of artistic expression.

Emphasis was placed on the use of translucent concrete to construct the central staircase and clad the facade of the building. With the introduction of light, people on the surrounding street would see the silhouettes of the individuals within the structure. The intention was for the movement of the human body through space to become a performative attribute in itself.
